The ship arrived at Mykonos at 7am. We headed to the Tenders early and were able to walk straight on.

We walked around Mykonos Town, quickly getting lost in the maze of beautiful white buildings and cobble stoned streets until we eventually found the bus station.

The first bus to Elia beach didn’t leave until 10.30 so plenty of time to wander back to the harbour, shop and have a coffee.
Walking back up we had to dodge vans and trikes that were squeezing through the streets and people.

When we arrived we found out we were at the wrong station, and needed to be at the Old Port – which was where we had come from….
So we changed our plan and caught a taxi. The driver was friendly and suggested that we should go to Ornos beach instead, so we headed there.
We booked some beach beds on the water (they also provided towels) and settled ourselves in for the afternoon. It was a beautiful day, warm with a light breeze. Perfect.

There were waiters serving you on the beach so we had some local wine, swam lots, and had Souvlaki and chips for lunch. To add to the ambience they were playing Abba music – Mama Mia was filmed here.

There was a constant flow of people walking along the beach trying to sell hats, sunglasses, etc the hat man was the most impressive.

We stayed at the beach for 4 hours, and enjoyed ever minute then timed it perfectly for the 2.30 bus back to Mykonos town. Once there we went looking for the windmills. Aleesha had stayed here previously in an apartment near them. It wasn’t long before we found them and some more great views of the town.

We still had about an hour and a half before boarding so it was time to try some local Mousaka and Tzatziki, delicious! Along with some more local wine of course.

Bel then decided she needed to do some more shopping so I sent her off on her own. We got down to about the last 30 minutes before I started to worry – she would get lost on the ship so had no chance in Mykonos, but to my surprise she was back with time to spare! Phew.

Back onboard we met up with Ed and Shelly for another great dinner and a bit of World Cup action.
