After a rainy night we woke up to a clearing day and much warmer temperatures. After breakfast we went for a ride to explore town. It’s a very small coastal fishing town that reminds us a lot of crescent head. There has been a lot of obvious new work done, including a new ocean boat launch with break wall and double boat entry at Bastion Point.
We eventually came across the Mallacoota coastal walk, which was also set up for bikes. It was a great trail that took you through the forest down to Davis beach. All up the ride around Mallacoota was about 17km and gave us a good feel for the town, especially how big the camp area is – it’s huge! Around 500 sites.
On the way back we stopped into the bakery for a pie – yumm! And also tested the sausage rolls. Carrot and onion have been a common theme in the last two places we’ve had them.
We spent the afternoon by the water and decided it was time for a Fire!! It was the first place allowed, although we did have to pay $5/day to hire the brassier. I went and collected wood (from the local servo), and we were ready to go!
So we are now snuggled around the fire, warm and enjoying the amazing views. Dinner tonight is teriyaki chicken and fried rice. Paddle and a fish tomorrow. Think we are going to stay here for a while.👍😊
