Bel and I went for a day trip to Yackandandah today. It was the home town of my Nanna, and great grand parents on dad’s mum’s side; the McInnes clan.
I can remember coming here when I was about 3 with dad and all my uncles and cousins to visit the great grand parents, so was keen to see it again.
A beautiful town in the heart of the region. 
We found a museum run by the historical society and while looking around came across an old school photo that had my great aunty Lorna in it (she is top left in back row).
I mentioned the McInnes’ to the caretaker and she dug around and found an old file that had the McInnes family history for the town!
My great grand father was quite well known as he picked up milk from all the farmers in the region delivering it to Kiewa cheese factory. He drove horse and cart, and then a dodge 4 which was apparently put on display out the front of the factory after he retired. We did a quick trip to Kiewa to see if it was still there, but it had gone. My great gran was also well known and very active with the church.
We were also able to find out their address and went for a visit. The old houses were replaced by new ones but it still had the country lane feel I remember.
We then checked out the church to try and find a plaque that had been placed there for nanna’s sister Norma who had died young. Unfortunately couldn’t find it.
Regardless, It was a very successful trip and great to go back.
