Steve and I were very happy to be back on the coast. The plan to stay in Noosa was quickly squashed when we realised that Queensland had another long weekend!
So we headed down to Coolum which ended up being a good base as the friends we were catching up with all lived close. The caravan park was also right on Coolum Beach, with shops across the road and next door to the surf club.
We even had grass on our site!
The first night we had a lovely catch up at the surf club with Tracey and Jeff. Lots to talk about as we hadn’t seen them for more than 2 years. Tracey and Jeff live in beautiful Coolum.
The next day I was a very lucky girl! I had a spa day with Tracey at Noosa Springs. Wow!!! I have never experienced a day at a spa before. I guess it’s motivation to go back to work. Apart from the luxurious experience of refreshments on arrival, the hydrotherapy pool, the steam room, more refreshments and a body wrap I enjoyed it with my gorgeous teachers college buddy Tracey. We talked and laughed so much we missed the sauna and a special massage shower!
After our spa day Tracey took me to see Hastings St in Noosa and a bird shat on me!! Lucky??
By this stage it appeared the Sunshine Coast wasn’t so sunny! It started to rain. This rain was to continue for the rest of the week.
That night we had dinner at the surf club again and caught up with one of Steve’s St Pats school mates Noel and his wife Sue. Steve was out numbered as they’re both teachers. It was a nice dinner and lovely to meet Noel and Sue.
The next day we decided to do the Coolum Coastal walk. It was a scenic walk through some bush, boardwalks and with places to view the vast coast. Luckily the rain had stopped long enough to do the walk. It soon returned!
Our catch ups continued for lunch with Kyle and Carla who have moved recently to the very beautiful Perigian Beach.
The rain continued the next day so we decided on lunch and a day at the races at the surf club.
That night we went to Tracey and Jeff’s for a very yummy dinner.
We walked and managed to miss the rain both ways. It was a decent walk so very hot and humid!!
The next morning we caught up with the Bogaards for breakfast. Tracey and Jeff are very proud grandparents so it was a lovely surprise to see Elise, Asher and Zion.
Later that day we met up with Noel and Sue for a ride to Caloundra along a fantastic bike path. A few good hills too and a very scenic ride. It was a 24 km round trip so the fish and chips for lunch was well earnt.
Again we just missed the rain!!!
After the ride it was time to head back to camp and get organised – we were flying back to Sydney for Damien’s graduation! We dropped the bikes at Tracey and Jeff’s for safe keeping and went home to get ready for our departure the next day. We were very excited!!!! We were going to pack the tent up but the rain continued and actually got heavier over night, so we ended up just putting up all the annex walls and pegging everything down.
Hopefully our tent home will be fine without us for a few days on the not so sunny Sunshine Coast.😩
