After a bit of a sleep in and bacon and eggs for brekky we were ready for our first paddle. Getting it off the car is still a challenge for me but I didn’t drop it on Steve this time. We were able to launch it just up from our campsite and it went well. We paddled for just over half an hour and Steve thinks we did about 5kms. My technique is getting much better!! It was a lovely paddle and great to check out what was around the corner. We almost bottomed out on a sandbar! Plan to explore a little further tomorrow.
After the paddle we went to organise 4 more days here. It’s a nice place to relax and chill and we’re in no hurry.
We decided to have lunch out and went to Lucy’s. It’s a small and authentic Chinese restaurant but it doesn’t look like your usual Chinese restaurant. The food was amazing. We had Pork Dumplings which were huge and delicious and some Chicken Noodles. That wasn’t enough so Steve had a BBQ Pork Bun and I had a Spring Roll (which was also huge!) We will have to go back again for the other varieties of dumplings!!
Thankfully we were able to organise some better wood and a large amount to last us our extra days. It’s still very cold at night. We have a great fire and are sitting in front of it as I write this blog. Steve is enjoying building a fire again. (He misses the WPH fire place. We all do!!)
We enjoyed a bottle of Bollinger in the afternoon sun. Thanks Andy and Janene for our going away gift, it was very much appreciated and a lovely way to spend the afternoon. It will be the first and last bottle on this trip because our budget won’t cover it. So thanks again guys!!!
So dinner and a night sitting around the fire tonight under a full moon will be awesome.
