Lakes Entrance – in search of a decent coffee

We were up early and went for a ride in search of a coffee after breakfast.  I never really thought I was a coffee snob, but the last few days have really started to test me. I thought the Victorians knew how to make a coffee!!…it’s a myth. Three times in a row I’ve been served warm milk with a hint of coffee. I even tried adding an extra shot to the double shot today.

At least the view was good and after coffee we explored Lakes on our bikes. It’s a big fishing town that also has a surf beach.

The inlet is very protected and has a huge marina filled with trawlers. There is also a fish processing plant here.

You are able to cross the inlet on a large walkway (no bikes apparently 😁) that then takes you to a narrow strip of land before you are on a massive beach.

The beach is long and deep. It’s on the Bass straight, and somewhere out there is Tasmania!

After exploring the cycle paths as far as they would take us, and being swooped by a magpie we went and did some shopping for supplies, including a couple more items for camp setup, and had fresh chicken and salad rolls for lunch back at camp (you can only eat so much fish and chips).

We also spotted another potential coffee shop for us to check out tomorrow…please let it be good!

The afternoon was very quiet. I had a nap while Bel read for a bit and then napped too (lack of caffeine). The park is empty as Victoria’s hols ended yesterday so we will probably just spend the afternoon hanging out by our private pool 😄
