It was a cold and breezy day but still lots of sun and warm when out of the breeze. We decided to go riding today to explore Bermagui – it was about 16km all up, our ride map is below.

We checked out a lookout nearby for whales. Still no whales!!! Next stop was a cafe at Fishermans Wharf for coffee. Best coffee we’ve had so far! (Campos)
After coffee we headed up the bike path for a bit, we checked out the Bermagui river and some paddling spots and then found a dirt road on the other side of town that led to a mountain bike track. It had some nice tracks, a cross country and a technical, Steve said we weren’t really prepared for any mechanicals so didn’t check it out – I definitely wasn’t keen anyway!!

We rode further up the dirt road as it looked like it headed down to the water according to google maps. It turned out that it did but you had to ride through private property, and there were some very unwelcoming signs so we turned around and headed back towards town.
On the way back we saw an emu, it sat down as we approached and started moving its head around really weirdly, like it was pretending to be a snake. It eventually got up and just held its wings out with an amazing set of legs on display. The video is below.
We also came across a beautiful wetland that had a boardwalk that let us walk directly over the swamp. There was an amazing amount of bird life. Being spring we came across a pair of black swans with their babies (signets?) So cute!

We followed the boardwalk and it eventually led us out onto the beach. A beautiful spot.

Walking back I heard a rustle in the grass and thinking snake again, I ran with my bike and the pedal smashed into my shin and knee!! Blood! A bite from my bike.😕 We rode back to town to grab supplies and lunch. (a naughty lunch of fish cocktails, a potato scallop and some chips for a chip sandwich. It was yum!!!!)
After lunch I did a load of washing and Steve serviced the bikes, and we gave his dad a call. Bloody cold southerly wind so now inside with layers to keep warm. A great day exploring.
